Federation Elections: Sport ministry approves 30th of September 2021 as election date.

The federal ministry of youth and Sport development, has unanimously approved 30th of September , 2021 for the federation election. 

In a statement signed by the director , (press and public relations) Mr Mohammed Manga , he noted that  the six (6) federations that has their constitution ratified by their international sport bodies and the Nigeria Olympic Committee, will have their elections based on their respective constitution.

 

However, in the same statement, the ministry also directed that the sport federations should begin the necessary process as outlined in their Constitutions towards having an elective Congress that will hold on September 30, 2021 in Abuja.The sports federations that are expected to hold their elections on September 30, 2021 include: Nigeria Aquatics Federation, Nigeria Basketball Federation, Nigeria Boxing Federation, Cycling Federation of Nigeria, Nigeria Shooting Federation as well as Nigeria Table Tennis Federation.

In order for the discharge of a quality electioneering process, the ministry has also made it mandatory that the sports federations that are yet to ratify their constitution, will have to conduct their elections based on the guidelines provided by the ministry, as the ministry and the Nigeria Olympic Committee will be observers in the election.
